About..

What is PhuzeBox?

PhuzeBox is meant to be a place where you can collect all your "stuff" from other sites on the internet into one place, kind of like your own person "index" or yellow pages.

Suppose you have a online journal, a blog, a place where you upload photos and another site where you put bookmarks. And so if you have all that stuff, you want to share it right? That's where PhuzeBox comes in, you can link all your blog, photo, bookmark sites and a lot more together in one place and then share them to people in one easy to use convenient package.

How can I share my PhuzeBox?

There are two ways to share it:

You can give people a link to your PhuzeBox homepage, which is http://phuzebox.com/yourusernamehere (replace 'yourusernamehere'with your phuzebox username). When people go there they will see all the sites you have set up.

Or..

You can use portable PhuzeBoxes and put a list of all your stuff on other sites like in your MySpace profile or on your LiveJournal blog. People will see a list of all your stuff without leaving that site and then they can click on it to look at something in there they think is worth looking at. More information can be found here (you must be logged in to use this link).

Where did the idea for PhuzeBox come from?

It came from an idea I have at work on day back in 2001. I had friends who had online journals and info on lots of sites and I wanted to be able to check them all without having to visit each site separately. I made a small version but it never served anyone but me -- in fact, you can see the broken remnants here still. It was never every advanced and used a technique called "screen scraping" to get the data it needed so it would never be as useful as I hoped.

Fast forward to March of 2006, I was elbows deep in my first baby Quizilla and noticed that users were also making multiple accounts to keep different kinds of writing separate, and they always had link lists like "go here to see my Naruto stories, and go here to see my Inyuasha stuff" and my old idea bubbled up again and I decided to work on it again.

The big difference five years makes was in that time something called RSS hit the world in huge style and finally made my original idea possible to be used by normal humans.

So, are you any relation to PhuSebox.net, or the other sites with names like yours?

Nope, just a happy coincidence, I didn't even know about sites like PhuSebox.net when I started the site. I chose PhuzeBox.com because I wanted a dot-com and all the other variations of the name were taken.

Your Account

How do I change my Password?

Click the "Your Account" button from the top menu, then use the "change password" section.

Can I change my PhuzeBox username?

No, you can't do that yet -- but if there are enough people who need this, we may add the option.

Sites

How do I add a site?

To add a site to your PhuzeBox acount (which will add it to your homepage and boxes), first go to the "Your Sites" menu button on the top menu.

From that page, use the scrolling list near the bottom to find the site you want to add, then click the name from that list.

You will then go to a page where you will need to enter information we need to add this site to your Account.

Once you have added the Information we need, click the save button. If everything was OK, that site will now be added. You will be sent back to the list, with the new site added.

How do I remove a site?

To remove a site from your PhuzeBox acount (which will remove it from your homepage and boxes), first go to the "Your Sites" menu button on the top menu.

From that page, find the site you want to remove from the list near the top and then click the "delete this" link next to it. You'll see a popup box asking you if you really want to do this (if you have JavaScript turned on in your browser) -- If you really want to delete this site, click the "OK/YES" button.

The site is now deleted from your account (but the site on the actual web site IS NOT affected).

How do I change the order of my sites?

To change the order your sites are shown on your homepage and boxes, first go to the "Your Sites" menu button on the top menu.

From that page, find the site you want to move:

If you want to move it up, click the "move up" link; to move it down click "move down" and to put it all the way above every other site click the "top" link.

This will change the top-to-bottom order in your Flash and iFrame boxes, the order of showing for you Image PhuzeBox and the left-to-right order of the sites on your homepage.

I want to take a site off my homepage or boxes, but I don't want to delete it; what do I do?

To take a site off of your homepage and boxes temporarily, you can simply turn it "off".

To turn a site Off (which will temporarily remove it from your homepage and boxes), first go to the "Your Sites" menu button on the top menu.

From that page, find the site you want to turn off, click it, and change the "On/Off? dropdown menu to off and then click "save".

To turn a site back on, use the same steps, but change the "On/Off" dropdown to "on" which will put the site back on your homepage and boxes.

Dashboard

So what's my dashboard?

Your Dashboard is a place for you to go to see what's happening on PhuzeBox to your stuff and to the site. You can read news and see your stats like how many people have visited your homepage.

Codes

I want to post my PhuzeBox to a site, how do I do it?

For code and instructions, check out the Get Code page.

I don't understand what to use the code for.

You use this code to put a smaller version of your PhuzeBox homepage on to sites that are ot PhuzeBox.

So, for example, you could put a mini list of all the stuff you've made on other site on your MySpace profile so that when people to to your MySpace page they see what you've been up to on other parts of the internet.

You can also put it in your signature for forums and emails, so if someone likes what they read from you they can go and see other things you're up to.
